The Adirondack Park Agency is seeking public comments on amendments to the Adirondack Park State Land Master Plan, one of which seeks to allow bicycle use in Primitive Areas in the park.
This Wednesday there will two public hearings on the proposed amendments, one at 11:00 am at the DEC Offices, 625 Broadway in Albany, and another at Saratoga Spa State Park at 6:00pm. The APA will be providing more information on the amendments and accepting comments at these meetings as well.
SMBA will be submitting a formal written comment before the deadline of Jan. 29th, but we encourage you to submit a comment as well.

Daniels Clearing Photos
Work is moving right along! Note the clearing’s not open for public use yet.
Construction of Daniels Road parking area underway
DEC’s contractors are working on the Daniels Road parking area and the right of way. They will probably be in there another week or two. Once completed the gate will likely remain closed until after mud season in the spring. When the parking area opens, it will be a huge improvement over the current access issues! We’ll keep you posted as things progress.
Year End Meeting & Election Results
Thanks to everyone for coming out for the year end ride, meeting and elections this weekend! We had a fun group ride at Luthers Forest and had a good time at the year end meeting at The Mill in Round Lake.
For those who couldn’t make it to the meeting, the slideshow that was presented is available here (also found on the Meeting Minutes page).
At the meeting, the 2016 elections were held. As a result, please welcome our two newest board members:
VP North – Drew Roginski
VP South – Greg Haworth
Thanks Drew and Greg for stepping up! As always, if you’re looking to get more involved, either on the board or spearheading a special project you’re passionate about, let us know.
And thanks to all our members and sponsors for your support in making SMBA’s 2015 a success!
