Year end ride and meeting!

Join us Saturday November 11th, for a fun group ride before our year end party and meeting! We’ll meet at the original home of SMBA, Daniels Road State Forest, at 11am and ride until 2pm. From there we will head over to the warming hut at the Saratoga Spa State Park for the meeting. The terrain at Daniels Road is definitely challenging and that’s why this year we’ll also be offering a skills clinic option (more info below) in addition to a more traditional group ride.

If you can’t make the ride, the meeting will start at 3pm at the warming hut, with pizza and drinks provided by the club. We’ll recap the club’s efforts over the past year, swap riding stories, give away some prizes to trail work volunteers, and we will also be holding 2018 elections.

Open positions are:
Secretary
John Boyd Thacher State Park Trail Director

About the Skills Clinic:
The skills clinic will begin with a short discussion about bike setup and how it can affect your ride. Following this, we will head out to some of the easier trails at Daniels and focus on topics such as bodying positioning, line choice, braking and cornering. After some time working on these things, we will ride some more to apply what we’ve learned.
The clinic’s main goal is to give riders some skills, technique and confidence to better enjoy riding at Daniels Road or the other challenging trail networks that SMBA maintain. Please note that if you are a true beginner rider, this clinic will not be for you. You should be comfortable riding at some of the more intermediate-focused trail networks in the general area, such as Gurney Lane, Luther Forest, and Colonie Town Park.

The ride and meeting are open to all- members and non-members alike. Come solo and meet some new people or bring your friends. Hope to see you there!
