Your Voice is Needed to Save The RTP Grant Program

The house bill that eliminated the RTP grant program was passed, effectively eliminating dedicated funding for recreational trail projects.

RTP grants are used by almost every type of recreational trail user, and help fund projects all over the state. This is a vital source of funds needed to support trail projects everywhere.

But, there is still time to save the RTP program. If you’re an IMBA member you got an urgent notice this morning on what is needed. You can read it here:http://www.imba.com/alert/urge-your-senator-vote-yes-save-rtp

There are two bills that need your input. Here is some info from the imba notice I linked above…

Take Action in the Senate!
Call your U.S. Senator today at 202-224-3121 and ask them to “VOTE YES on the Klobuchar amendment to MAP-21,” or use this easy e-mail form from the American Motorcyclists Association.

Take Action in the House!
Call your U.S. Representative at 202-225-3121 and ask them to “VOTE NO on amendment #230 by Rep. Steve King (R-IA) that will eliminate the Recreational Trails Program.”

Please speak up regarding these two bills. SMBA is planning to apply for an RTP grant to help accelerate the trail building efforts at Pittstown. Without the RTP program, funds will be hard to come by and progress will be at a snails pace.

Support for the RTP program = more trails!!!
